Q1 - How did you prepare for Stage I for OIRs and PPDT?
First thing is to plan and observe the pattern what is generally question in the OIR at SSB. The OIR material provided by AMAS will give a fair idea about that. Then, I practiced the OIR test for atleast an hour everyday from‘RS SHARMA’ reasoning book. For PPDT I worked on my stories and general awareness which helped in weaving a good story. Also, reading good books and newspaper everyday will fill the mind with new and mature ideas. The practice PPDT practice that I had in AMAS played a vital role for my Stage.
Q2 - How to keep confidence levels going throughout the SSB?
Golden rule for confidence during SSB is to "Believe in yourself" and focus on strengths more rather than continuously looking on your weakness especially during SSB. The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in combat. Therefore, practicing hard before SSB builds confidence during SSB.
Q3 - How have you been able to work in a group for GTO tasks? Did the outdoor tasks in GTO series pose a hurdle to you?
To be true any student who has properly focused during GTO classes at AMAS will never face hurdle in GTO tasks. The rest is by having a good and positive attitude toward others. They are our team and we need to work with them and during GTO tasks. The group follows the logic, so being logical and good towards your team helps in GTO. Being taught by COL MP Sir, the GTO tasks seemed very easy.
Q4 - How did you prepare for interview?
Forthe interview, the first thing I did is thorough introspection. I started with exploring myself before anything else. I worked on my weakness, improved my routine, read good books and was in continuous touch with current affairs. I also worked on my communication skills so that I can express myself clearly and completely. Being honest is the key.
Q5 - How did u tackle the rapid fire questions as part of the interview?
The Rapid Fire questions were cake walk since I had practiced so many times at AMAS with COL MP Sirand COL Ghosh Sir. I did as directed by COL MP SIR and wrote all that I had to say in sequence and practiced many times.
Q6 - How did you prepare for Psychology tests?
For psychology, reading novels, self-help books and autobiographies really helps. Apart from that having a good circle of friends, good routine and daily newspaper reading really helps to give good experiences and mature ideas in psychology. Intense practice at AMAS and feedback with guidance by COL MP Sir played a vital part in the psychology success.
Q7 - Time given to attempt the TAT, WAT, SRT enough?
Time for TAT, WAT and SRT is enough. Just giving the first thought works. In SRT the way of writing matters. I gave short and crisp replies for SRTs and finished all in time.
Q8 - How did AMAS training help you on an overall perspective?
Training at AMAS was like the ray of light in darkness. It completed changed the way I was thinking about SSB. Firstly, AMAS cleared my mind about SSB and then intense practice and hardwork of faculty made me sail through. I would like to thank all at AMAS that helped me and guided me like parents and showed confidence in me and every other student at AMAS.
Q9 - What tips would you like to give to the SSB aspirants?
First thing is a person should be clear in his mind that joining the defence forces it is not ajob. Therefore a burning desire and passion for forces and nation is important. Reading newspapers& good books andintrospection is vital. Most important is the guidance - the guidance provided by AMAS is vital in clearing the mind about requirements in SSB and the way things should go. Self- confidence is the first requirement " I can do it , I will do it, I have to do it "
Q10 – Who played a key role in your success?
I owe the credit of my success to my parents who stood by my side throughout
my struggle and to AMAS that showed me the right direction. COL MP Sir, Gurleen Ma’am, COL Ghosh Sir, Roy Ma’am and all the faculty of AMAS.
